Trick or Treat!
After spending two weeks in a Thousand Trails property it was time for the required week break. Massachusetts was close and there are two places we love to go, Normandy Farms Campground and the Crowell’s.
Normandy Farms Campground is, by far, our favorite campground. We happened on it last year and were so impressed by it that we felt we had to go back. It is well kept and friendly. They have a recreational center with an indoor pool, two hot tubs and a sauna. This is in addition to the two other outdoor pools that they close down when the season is done. Last year, when we were tent camping the upper part of the Rec center was a great place for the kids to do school work and for me to work. And after over a month traveling, the pool, hot tub and sauna seemed like such a treat. We were there almost every night. It is also a great place to meet people. We met several families taking a similar journey as we were. It was fascinating and comforting hearing their stories and comparing experiences. The girls were thrilled to finally have other kids with whom they could play. Their WiFi was sufficient to stream but oddly enough we weren’t in the trailer much to use it. Once they finished their work the girls were out playing with their friends.

If you have never been to a campground in October it is something to behold. Normandy Farms went all out. The had a haunted hayride, haunted house, trick or treating, and nothing says Halloween like a Michael Jackson impersonator. Even the campers got into it. Just walking around and looking at all the sites decorated with pumpkins, skeletons, etc...was enjoyable. Until the sun went down and people jumped out of the dark scaring the girls. If any of you have been to Fright Fest with us you probably know that Aurora does not respond well to that part of Halloween. Aurora and I relaxed in the trailer while Nina and her friend stayed out at the Halloween dance. It was a memorable time but living in an RV means we have to eventually hit the road.

It was a short drive to our next destination.

One of my favorites, Canton, Mass, The Crowells. As always, we were welcomed with open arms and the hospitality is beyond measure. (Thanks Dave and Traci!) It was like Traci and I were roommates again but there were no spontaneous pub crawls for us. We did, however, take the kids trick or treating. Everyone was so generous that when got back to Traci’s the girls felt compelled to weigh their haul from Normandy and from Canton. It was a whopping 17 lbs of candy. Each!
Massachusetts was good to us but it was starting to get cold. Time to start heading south.
