Jordan Pond is a quiet hike around a pond. Although this looks like it might be much the same as all the other hikes we did it had its own special charm. Also giving the kids a break from the strain of the more difficult hikes while learning a little more about the area, priceless.
After spending some time at Otter Cove we were in the mood for a hike. So we pulled out our trusty app and found a family friendly hike not far from our location. It is know as Emery's Path. This was a perfect hike for the family.
This is not a hike that is listed on the REI Trails app but it was a great walk and a very educational day. The tide in Maine ranges almost 12ft from high tide to low tide. During low tide great tide pools are created and available to explore. We highly recommend the day walking along the shore of Bar Harbor.
The drive north to Acadia National Park in early October was one of the most magnificent. We spent two weeks in Maine and everyday the colors changed and the contrast of the trees, the sky, the land and the water seemed to only get better and better.
Turns out it was a perfect time of year to be in Maine and Acadia National Park. We had almost 14 days of sun and 60 degree weather. We hiked almost every other day and hiked less than 25% of the possible trails...
