Acadia Mountain, Hike #7
Acadia Mountain our 7th hike in 11 days. We loved the hikes and knew our time was coming to an end. Two more hiking days after this hike. We were starting to feel a little worn, the excitement still filled us but our bodies were tired. Tempers were a little short. I remember some fighting and me yelling about the fighting. The we started our hike up Acadia Mountain.
I think we all wanted a little time on our own. Nina charged ahead. Gigi was a little apprehensive about Nina going on ahead of us and out of sight. I felt pretty safe. We had hiked enough trails and not come across anyone I felt unsafe around. The trails are very well marked. We had talked about how to find the trail during every hike. Each kid also had their GPS watch and we could locate them even on the mountain, yes we tested the watches. So I persuaded my wife to allow Nina to hike on ahead. I followed but not close enough to be seen. It gave us all a bit of time to be left with our own thoughts.

So this hike went up quick and down just as quick. The second half of this hike is the Man O' War Brook Fire Road. It is a dirt access road used by rangers and other maintenance vehicles. If we had to do this hike over I would have turned around after coming down the backside of the mountain and re-hike the mountain backward. I took no pictures and there was very little wildlife seen on the road or all through Acadia for that matter. But this road did give us, after a bit of a difficult hike, a quick way back to our car so we were grateful.
In the first group of pictures we start together then go off alone. I ran along the trial to catch everyone at different points.

The backside of this hike tracked along the face of the mountain and had amazing views of Somes Sound. We would climb down a little and then it would have a lookout. Then we would climb down some more and have another lookout. Some of the lookouts were completely open and overhanging the decent down the mountain. It was a great way to break up the climb down. Another beautiful hike.
