Acadia, ME Hike #3: Otter Cove and Emery Path

We started our third day of hiking with a drive around the coast of Desert Island.  We had planned on heading over to the far side of the island but we got a late start and changed plans on the fly.  As we were driving we passed a great little cove with a sandy beach and place to pull off, so we did.

Otter Cove This is Otter Cover. It is not a hike. It was a beautiful sight so we stopped.

After spending some time at Otter Cove we were in the mood for a hike. So we pulled out our trusty app and found a family friendly hike not far from our location.  It is known as Emery Path.  This was a perfect hike for the family. Emery Path has a  474 ft. ascent, this hike starts at the Nature Center Sieur de Monts and follows a path up the face of the Dorr Mountain. This looks over the Frenchman Bay, Mt. Desert Narrows and The Tarn Pond.

Emery Path Face As we climbed up the mountain the path tracked along the face of the mountain. There was plenty of space to walk creating great views instead of terrifying us.

The more hikes we did the more comfortable the kids were to sit by themselves on breaks. I found Aurora sitting looking out at a view.

Emery Path tunnel The makers of this path had some fun. On the way down they created a thin tunnel.
