After a great time in Mystic, CT, we stopped for the week in the Boston, MA area. Normandy Farms is our home for 5 days and then we will head into Boston and stay with some friends. Normandy Farms trumpets itself as “NEW ENGLAND’S LUXURY CAMPING DESTINATION”. This being the first time I have camped in New England I cannot vouch for that statement, but I can say it is the nicest place we have ever camped.  It is nicer than many hotels we have stayed at across the country and the price is very reasonable.  It is off season so the place is pretty empty but the kids have made a new friend just about their age and have made plans with her to swim every day. I didn’t have the heart to tell them that it will not quite be swimming weather all week but we will let that play out on its own. Besides there are many other activities they can choose.

As most of you know who are reading this we homeschool our kids.  So today was a get back to school day.  We have been able to do some schoolwork on the long drives from state to state but not the subjects that require more instruction.

Refocusing on schoolwork can be tough, especially when the Disney Channel is playing.

We had the whole place to ourselves. Normandy Farms has a beautiful rec room with an under 17 only loft and an over 18 only loft on opposite sides of the room.

Finally some focus and no, that is dad’s Mt. Dew.

We had our first cold night, 44 degs., we threw the tarp over the tent but it didn’t really help.  It was short lived though, the kids were back in the pool the next day.

Love bacon for breakfast. We threw the tarp over the tent to try and keep us warm.

Our comfy little set up, with electric and lights. Now that is roughing it!

Here are a couple of shots of the grounds.  I really can’t speak highly enough about the quality of this place.  And these pictures don’t include all of the amenities.  They just happened to be the ones I was near and photographed.

So as I mentioned this is a back to school week.  One of the reasons for the trip was to be able to walk and see some of the historical sites on the East Coast.  Both Nina and Aurora are learning history chronologically, from the early 10,000B.C to modern times.  Every four years of their schooling they will repeat history and dive deeper into subjects as they are able to comprehend more information.  The first four years 1st grade -4th grade is a basic story telling of the worlds history.  Because kids love stories my kids love history.  We will be visiting the Plimoth Plantation and the Mayflower II first and later in the week we will walk Freedom Trail in Boston.
